What we collect, and why
- When you buy: your email address, name and billing country or postal code, collected by Stripe at checkout. We use them to deliver the ebook, send your receipt and download links, calculate tax, and keep the accounting records the law requires. Legal basis: performance of the contract and legal obligation.
- Payment details: handled by Stripe only. We never see or store your card number.
- Your downloads: the number and date of downloads on your personal links, to prevent link sharing and help you if something goes wrong. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- When you ask for the free tools: your email address, the date, and whether you ticked the box to receive Audrey's emails. We use it to send the tools you asked for. If you ticked the box, we also send a small number of emails about planning a first trip to Britain and about the book, until you unsubscribe. Legal basis: your request (for the tools) and your consent (for the other emails). Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- When you write to us: your name, email and message, to answer you. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
- Security logs: technical data such as IP address, kept briefly by our host to protect the site from abuse.
This site uses no advertising or analytics cookies and no tracking pixels. To understand how the page is used, we count events such as page views, clicks on the buy buttons and completed orders, as daily totals only, with no cookie, no identifier and nothing that could identify you. Your browser's local storage remembers that you closed the free-tools pop-up, so it isn't shown again for a week. That information never leaves your device. Stripe's checkout page, on Stripe's own domain, uses cookies needed for fraud prevention and payment.
Who processes it for us
- Stripe (payments), stripe.com/privacy
- Cloudflare (hosting and file storage), cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
- Resend (sending emails), resend.com/legal/privacy-policy
Some of these providers process data in the United States, under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
Order and invoicing records: 10 years, as required by French accounting law. Messages to support: 3 years after our last exchange. Free-tools email addresses: until you unsubscribe, or 3 years after our last contact with you. Security logs: a few days.
